Still Life

In class we have been learning about still life. First of all Mrs Easton got out a bowl from her house and some fruit. There was oranges, apples, lemons, pears and grapes. She put the fruit in the bowl. From our desks we could see it but from different angles. At the moment Mrs Easton is putting them up on the wall. They all look great. For the first time in my life I'm actually proud of my own art. Well maybe only a little bit. All of them look good. My favourite one would probably be Keala's or Sapphire's. I LOVE doing art.

Self Portraits

A couple of Thursday's ago we did self portraits. When I heard the good news I jumped up and down . Then the the troubles began. MrsEaston saw me. She told me off and sent me to the naughty corner for a minute. Soon a minute was gone. I was allowed to come out of the naughty corner. Soon It was time to do the self portraits. We did a lot of draft copies. Then we did the proper copy. I was really happy with mine. Soon it was time to pack up. We packed up and went to the mat. As soon as we were on the mat we had a story. Soon the bell rang, It was time to go home.
ps: I'm just tricking about a naughty corner. We all make good choices in Room 1!

Poems.

July 12 we are writing poems that rhyme. Do you know what rhyme means ' it means a word that is spelled or sounds the same. Like pup and cup. Why don't you try it.They are fun.I will show you a poem.
The cow went to a round people race,
but forgot to tie up his cowshoe lace.
He hopped about, holding his snout.
He suddenly tripped over,
and ruined a pavlova.
There was a drama
and then came his farmer.
Someone will arrive, eat a beehive.
It was old Zao, who loved the cow
Bananas are flying, Zao is crying.
Paper planes are being thrown,
woolen jackets are being sewn.

Cross Country Trainning.

On Monday the 4 of the 11. When the bell rang after lunch, room 1 raced out the door! All ready for cross country training. And started to run around the front Court. Mr Neighbours called the two senior rooms for stretches. And then Mr Pottinger came out he stood at the crossing. Soon he called for room 2 room 1 room 5 room 3 and 4. We went in a flash! Then back we came from our run, and did our warm down on the court. At the end we gathered as a school in front of the steps in front of rooms 1 and 2 to say what we could improve on.

End of term

Room one at Waikawa bay school has started learning about healthy eating we have a lot of good ideas all ready. In maths we are learning to figure out codes some are easy some are hard. Mrs Easton says its good to be challenged to get you prepared for when you get older because if you get older you need to know them. In reading we are reading little chapter books then we do something called a story hill you draw a hill shape then write in it parts about the story. We are also doing cross country. We don't give up because we are very athletic so everyone does well for themselves. We do lots of art. We do self portraits, noah's ark, drawings of out the sounds. We enjoy art.

Cross Country .

On your marks, get set and Go.I raced across the road then gently slowed down to a jog.I looked behind myself and there were the others catching up to me.Then I stared back up ahead ,wow!I
was even catching up to Grace.Suddenly I felt myself walking up a slope, I wanted to stop but I
just kept on going ,and going until I reached the top.
What a relief ,I had finally made it to Mrs Altoft and I crossed the road straight away.Just then I
was almost out of breath.
I had just made it to Mrs Cloudesley so I was able to have a small rest while I was waiting for the traffic to drive past us. Suddenly I heard the drumbeat of footsteps getting louder and louder."Oh, no"I groaned."The little kids are catching up again".But Ms Clouesdsly could let us cross."Yes!" I cried.

Writing with verbs.

At writing time Mrs Easton announced "We are learning to use interesting verbs in our writing, class. What are verbs class?" We knew that they were action words and we knew that we would have to write a series of different stories. The first story was a remake of a story that the whole class had read called the number nine bus. Then a remake of the hissing bush. One day we had to make a random story with verbs. But last of all we had to make our own version of the school journal story: red flags. And Mrs Easton wanted me to show it to Mr Potinger- the school Principal.
